His World
So the world as we know it is divided into continents through their respective elements: Fire, Water, Earth and Wind. Over at the fire nation there lives a crafty royal family who's bent on taking over the world through sheer firepower. Prince Zuko happens to be the son of Lord Ozai, the current emperor of the Fire Nation who's waging a full frontal war on the rest of the world. Now it would be all peachy keen if he were to just stand by his father's side and defeat the enemy, but nope. It's way more complicated than that. And no it's not your typical good boy born into a bad family who wants out on the bloody war. God forbid. A few years ago, back when the prince was still a naive fresh faced kid, he had seized the opportunity to attend a generals war meeting within his father's war chambers under the strict rule that he is not to speak up at any given time. During the meeting, much strategies were discussed, one of which being that untrained, unarmed soldiers be brought to the frontlines as decoys while attacking another kingdom. Disgusted by this, the young Zuko lashed out and shit went down, to which the omnious figure of his father decided will be resolved with an Agni Kai: the Fire Nation equivalent of an Honour Battle. Keen to win his father's approval, Zuko agreed whole heartedly to the duel...only to find out at that very beginning of the duel that his opponent was not to be the general he spoke against, but his very own father. Obviously devastated, the filial son refused to lift a hand citing that he loved his father too much to do him harm but instead Lord Ozai thought this unacceptable and weak of his offspring, and gave him a helluva beating and a burn so bad that a good left section of his face reamins scarred till today. And as if that wasn't severe enough, Prince Zuko was banished from the Fire Nation with a small group of men and his uncle Iroh - Lord Ozai's brother. He would be allowed permission to come back, only once the boy renews his honour by finding the lost Avatar. So Prince Zuko set sail for three years, all that time never even so much as catching a glance of the Avatar...until that fated day.
Personality
Everyone who knows and serves him as Prince Zuko will always remain respectful and wary around the boy, despite his status of being in exile until the day he finds the Avatar and brings him back to the Fire Nation. With his men, Zuko is always commanding and hardheaded, and yet at times willing to take a step back and prioritize the safety of his crew. He is a proud boy, and having been raised with the lack of a father's love, feels that one is only worthy of attention or rewards if every mission and quest is accomplised and overcome by ones self. Perhaps due to this as well, the boy tends to hold a skewed outlook on the definiton of Honour. To him, honour is bringing back the avatar to his fater's feet. Honour is disposing of those who prey on people weaker than themselves. Honour is constantly denying a stranger's charity (unless forced) and instead looting those who do not seem to deserve it aka rich bastards. ...yeah, he just might be mixing his views up with being a stubborn proud bastard. After all, he is a 16 year old teenager, and a rather awkward one at that. And as with every teenager going through the transition of becoming an adult, you could say that the prince has his share of 'normal' problems. For one, he hasn't the faintest idea what he wants from life and sucks at life planning. Despite his whole demeanour of always being in charge, he often does these things on impulse and soon realises later that he never really wanted it in the first place. At this point he becomes confused with guilt and doubt, but being unable to really solve this mind puzzle he shoves it all aside and acts aloof. During the entire series so far, thanks to his father wanting to throw him and his Uncle Iroh into prison, Zuko is constantly in conflict with what he desires out of life versus what destiny that was forced into his life due to his lineage. Oh did I mention his temper? Just like the unpredictability of the fire element, Zuko has a bitch of a temper. Couple this together with his teenage impatience and impulsiveness and BOOM. Chemical reaction. And yet despite all his negativy, the boy is not entirely devoid of laughs. Most of these comedic moments come from the very fact that he's so hot headed. Even a small misunderstanding of a girl believed to be his girlfriend will earn you a 'SHE IS NOT MY GIRLFRIEND MEEEEEHHHHHHHH DX' reaction from him + a few flames. Other times include idiocy being afoot, during which he will laugh loudly at you or just grant you a WTF look. Also, he's quite the smart mouth and will spout totally B-Grade one liners in all seriousness.
